Transgender Woman Sentenced to 8-and-a-Half Years in Prison for Role in Capitol Insurrection
A judge sentenced Oath Keeper Jessica Watkins to 8-and-a-half years in prison for her role in the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection.
The judge acknowledged her hardships as a transgender woman in the military and said she could have been a role model, but instead she formed a local militia and encouraged others to commit crimes.
Despite his empathy for Watkins, he said her role in the events was more aggressive and purposeful than others.
